I had a '75 FXE that had AMF on the gas tank. I thought...riding AND bowing. I had it 6 years and not one problem.

i had a 79 lowrider, rode it for 13 years no problems and my brother has been riding it since. i know no one will believe me but the push rod tube covers had never been off the motor. no trans work either except for a throw out bearing that it didn't really need. it's getting tired now using alittle oil and smokes alittle when it really hot outside, but what a good engine and trans this has been. on a side note here, the same day i bought this bike an buddy of mine bought one too. he had more problems with that thing, sticking valve guides several times over the years. just never know. i wish i could document the miles on the drivetrain of this bike. it's already had less problems than any of the new bikes i've owned since.

My '79 FL has 264,000 miles on it, and yes, I have replaced some things. But not the cam chain tensioners or the compensator, or the infotainment system.

Never had or plan to have one of those - except in a truck or something. I get all the information and entertainment I could ever want or need just from riding and listening to my bike.

Hope this does not turn into an AMF bash, I owned three AMF bikes and they were all very good to me. I thought the add was cool at the time and found it in an old scrap book.

Owned three AMF Harleys. 1974 FXE, 1975 XLCH, and 1981 FXS-80. Had no issues with any of them.

My favorite ad of the era was a Bic lighter and a Zippo. Caption was something like "one philosophy versus another."
