Default Need paint help

Well, apparently something broke through the bottom of my backpack and I just realized my rear fender got scratched all to hell. Its a Heartland fender, denim black on a 09 softail.

First question, is it difficult to remove a fender, ive never done it?

Can anyone give me a guess quote of cost to get it repainted? Pics attached

Thanks for any advice. I am new to my area in Colorado so I dont know any quality painters and am apprehensive to go through the Harley Dealer.

removing a fender would be hard for some,, easy for others.. pends on you ability to work with tools...????

paint,, well you'll just have to do some calling around,, I am sure you'll get prices all over the place.. Some in here have even Rattle Canned their tins and have had good results..

IDK about removing the fender - never done it either.

As for paint, like oct1949 said, you're probably going to have to just call around to your local shops & find out. I do know that a few years ago I got about a 2" long scratch (pretty deep) on the lid of my vivid black saddlebag. My local painter (and friend) told me it would be around $200 to fix! I was like, WTF?? He said something about having to buy a minimum amount of paint, blah, blah, blah.

I guess what I'm getting at is don't be surprised if you get what seems to be some outrageous pricing. For the record, I never had the scratch repaired and it was probably a good thing - thanks to my daughter and the OL, several more have since appeared. Not a big deal to me anymore. It's not a show bike and if you ride em, they're gonna get scratched.

The worst part of removing the rear fender is dealing with the wiring. Repainting the fender should be around $200.

Best advice ever.

This, but John Deere Blitz Black is very close to denim if you really feel the need. I did a WG rear fender for my FB and looks pretty good, if I do say so.

I've got a few scratches/scuffs on mine that bug the crap out of me, but they're probably only noticeable to me, so I just deal with it and ride! (and I just try to find more money to put something else on the bike and take away from the pain of the scuff, haha)

Just had a the U bolt of my crashbar scratching and removing the paint from my frame downtube which is black. I repainted it using a black touch up kit paint I had left from my bmw. Looks as good as new, although admittedly not in a very visible area...

Scratches happen when it is ridden, and repairing them all will be an expensive proposition, if however you cant deal and got money to blow go the Kevlar !
