Default Gas tank for 2001 Road King?

Hi,
Not sure this is the right place for this question but here it goes. I have a 2001 Road King Classic EFI, I have a dent in the tank , according to the Part number for the tank it was only made from 2000-2002. I am wondering if a tank from like a 2004 or newer would fit or do I need to stick with one from 2000-2002? The reason I am wondering is I have been told before 2004 the tanks were lined and the lining can start to peel and cause problems with the fuel system especially if they have been dented and 2004 and after have a different lining or aren't lined. Thanks for any advice.

Yours is a Magnetti-Marelli fuel injection system. The fuel tank has TWO fuel fittings, supply and return. The 02later uses Delphi fuel injection with ONE fitting.

Gotta stick with those years.

Can anyone tell me if I have the dent in my tank fix will I have problems down the road with the lining possibly coming off and screwing up the fuel system? I found another tank for $500 and it would be about another $400 to repaint it. I have been talking to Scott at Attitude Custom Painting and he will fix the dent and repaint mine for about $500 I'm just worried about having problems down the road with the fuel system. Any help or advise on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks
