Default Starting engine causes signals to blink fast.

I've been trying to diagnose a problem I've been having for a couple of months now with no luck. I installed H-D lighting everywhere and the rear LEDs have been giving me issues.

Sometimes after riding for a long time with normal signal functionality, the console signals will begin blinking fast. When turning the bike off and restarting it, they function normally again.

I've also noticed that sometimes the rear signals function fine until I start the engine, at which point the console signals begin blinking quickly and the rear signals don't anymore. Sometimes only one signal stops working, while the other continues working.

I'm at a loss with these. Does anyone have some insight for me?

Default Sorted

Finally got this sorted out. I took it into Harley yesterday morning and had a return call 20 minutes later. They never really gave me an exact description of my error codes, other than to say the BCM was having issues communicating with my rear signals. They tried installing a rear load equalizer, but it caused even more signal dysfunction. Ultimately, they decided there is a compatibility issue with newer bikes and LEDs.

We decided to try tricking the BCM into functioning normally by installing stock incandescent lights on my forks. I've read about people doing this to correct signal problems. Today my girlfriend found several photos of LED/incandescent combos that are almost my exact setup. Two hours later my error codes were gone and all SIX signals worked perfectly. Parker, the SLC Harley manager told me he "puts out the fires" and charged me absolutely nothing for their work (which included fork mount parts).

I had issues with these signals for months and did a good amount of research to try and solve the problem. Once again, the Harley dealership came through and my bike is at 100% again. Hopefully, this may be helpful for anyone else having LED problems.

UPDATE. I've enrolled in MMI and been in motorcycle mechanics for about a month. Since then I've decided am the only one who is going to work on my bike from here on out. This last week I sorted my signal issues. The stock connector socket for the front signals are three-wired, and the LED mirrors I installed are two-wired, with an included Y-harness that turns 2 into two 3 connectors (one for the stock signal, and one for the stock connection). This is what has caused my LED issues from day one. As long as the wiring matches up with the BCM configuration there are no issues. I am selling my auxiliary mirrors after installing the aftermarket Harley bullet signals and having no blinking issues. I COULD keep the LED mirrors except that I'm over them and don't want four front signals/lights besides my daymaker.

Default Fixed reasons

So I went through all of the accessory wiring schematics did continuity checks and whatnot. I found it by taking apart my front fairing and handlers. I took my signals apart and found wires had rubbed down to bare metal on my left handlebar and that was shorting out the system. My recommendation is checking pinch points in any part of a bike for wire issues and seeing if there any open wires it can be incredibly small. Cover them with heat shrink or seal it with liquid electrical tape for a water tight seal. The woke pieces from stay top finish took me 3 hours. I also cleaned up by wiring mess under my fairing.

The basic lesson I learned is that getting wiring diagrams and following every diagram to where they're supposed to go is the best and most logical way to do it step-by-step will make it easier and will help you learn more about your bike.
