Default Need some help guys

so i have an 04 sportster 1200r and i want to put on some engine trim pieces i picked up and that requires me to remove and put back in the bolt that is above the vin on the left side of my motor. It is the bolt thats above the primary and right below the motor. My questions are what is the name of this bolt and what is the torque spec to put it back in? Will anything happen once i take it out or will i have to replace the bolt itself when i take it out? Thanks alot for any help

A picture would be helpful. Do you have a manual? If not, get one as it will help you out a ton and pay for itself after the first few uses!

Usually if a trim piece requires a longer bolt, it will come with a longer bolt. But yes, I agree with hockey, before you go tinkering with your bike get yourself a service manual.
