Default Need assistance on 97 fxstc

I purchased a 1997 softail custom 1st the headlight goes out on my first ride get I get the dash off to check circuit breakers and found several melted wires. so I ordered a new wiring harness to update the electrical system also ordered new switches complete with new harness. My issue is where to properly mount the new fuse block

Thanks Bill

Check all your grounds too. A real ground problem telltale on that bike is a melted clutch cable.

I pretty much assembled my softail from parts and I put my fuseblock between the fatbobs. Didn't mount it at all, just padded it with a little piece of old heater hose and it stays put. When I want to work on it, there's enough slack in the wires I can just pull the fuseblock out and spread the wiring, making it very easy to work with. And Ed is right about grounds on these bikes: check em and upgrade em to bigger wire and stronger connections whenever you can. There's no way to go wrong with that and your bike will thank you with fewer electrical issues.
