Default lowering 2015 street glide special

just bought 2015 street glide special, had to lower it due to vertically challenged condition. Dealer changed rear shocks. it did get lowered and my feet are flate on ground, that part feel good. The ride is horrible . I am 5-6".
Do I have any other option that lowers bike down but still runs descent. any tip would be appreciated.

Get a pair of boots with a Logger sole or find a tall girlfriend that can ride it with you on the back!

You should expect a degraded ride experience with lowered shocks. Not much you can do about it. Make sure the shocks are properly adjusted for your riding weight (Naked weight plus riding gear, luggage, and passenger).

There is only a half an inch difference between the Street Glide (26.1") and the Sportster Super Low (25.5") seat height. You probably should've tried a reduced reach seat first. It would move you 2 inches forward and sit lower which helps you plant your feet flat on the ground without reducing the ride experience like the shock did.

Got a buddy with the same problem. He added an air-ride suspension to his Road Glide and it solved his problem (not to mention it's pretty dang cool watching him slam it when he parks).

Default 2015 SGS Lowered

I wanted to share my experience with Lowering a 2015 SGS. Even though the 15 S/G is an inch lower than previous models it wasn't low enough. I put Progressive short shocks on the rear and the bike turned into a pogo stick. Virtually unrideable. This was partly due to not having enough weight to compress the springs. I decided to keep the stock shocks and added a Tamarack Machine Works 1" lowering block set. This helped a lot. Kept the great ride from the stock shocks. I then took the seat to C&C motorcycle seats and had them remove about 3/4" of the foam. Still comfortable, but firm. I then put the Progressive 1" lower Monotube front suspension in. The bottom line is that I am 5' 3" and I can stand flat footed on the bike. It has made all the difference. I feel safe being able to move the bike around, backing up and such. I just returned from a 2700 mile ride up the California coast into Oregon. With all the twists and curves, I did not scrape a single time. Never bottomed out and the bike handles fantastic. For all the short riders out there is a way to still have the ride you want and be safe at the same time.

I,too installed the Tamarack lowering kit plus I opened up the front of the seat cover and cut half inch off the sides of seat pan (tapering towards back). Then I removed a wedge shape piece of foam from where your thigh would touch when feet are on the ground. Be sure to leave original outside molded foam edge intact, which will give a nice smooth edge when seat cover is reattached. Before reattaching front
portion of seat cover press foam down and trim
excess foam at bottom of pan leaving just enough to pad pan edge. This has allowed my
legs to be closer together when at a stop, thus allowing feet to plant flat-footed.
P.S. - I neglected to mention at beginning that you will have to pry glued foam from seat pan
at sides being trimmed. I hope this all makes sense. I worked wonders for my 28" inseam.
Good luck.
