I ride an 05 RK Classic. It has laced wheels that require a tube. I replaced the rear tire and tube a year ago, and counting labor, it costs me $289.00 at my local dealer. It's now time to replace both tires and tubes. I like the wide whitewall, and I don't want to compromise safety to save just a few bucks, but does anyone have a suggestion that could save me some money as I am only about 1000 miles from needing to pull the trigger.
I also posted this on the Road King picture forum.
You can get your tires online for about 120 bucks each delivered. That's what I do. I mount my own.
Your dealer is ripping people off, which is what most of them do. They can sell the tires much cheaper if they chose to. We have a dealer here that sells any HD tire for 99 bucks if they install them. The even includes the fance engraved WWW's if you want them. http://www.hdwytheville.com/specials.asp
You need a new front tire already? My original front on my Road King lasted 39k miles. My second on had 25k on it when I swapped it off Monday. It still looked great. It wasn't worn out. I replaced it because it was 3 years old and I had a brand new tire sitting here that was over a year old. I could have ran it longer, but decided to swap them while I was at it.
