Fuel Gauge malfunction
I have an '06 SG and I'm having a prob w/ the fuel gauge. When I first start up, it works ok, but after a mile or two, the needle drops over to E. At first, it would intermittently start working again, but now it stays on E unless I let it sit for quite a while, like overnight. Then the same thing happens all over again.
I suspect the fuel sender is going out, but I suppose it might be the gauge itself. Could be an ex-wife's curse or karma, but I'm thinkin' it's mechanical.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

It would be worth removing the sender from your tank to inspect it. You should be able to check it electrically, while in your hand. Take precautions not to cause a spark! If it's the same style as mine, you have a float, which wipes a contact over a fine coil. You may be able to persuade the two to make better contact (i.e. bend something!). You should at least be able to confirm if the sender is the problem.
