To make kickstand installs go super easy. After you are up on the jack extend the kickstand. When you pull up on the kickstand you'll see the spring spread. Start shoving in coins while pulling up, eventually when you let the stand go the spring will become looser and looser as you add coins or washers. Eventually you will be able to push out the spring without any tension. Do not remove the coins and be real gentle with the spring and coins so when you install the new one it will be the right length to slip in. Once the new stand is in pull up on it and the coins will fall out.
All you need to do is put the bike on the lift or have someone hold it. Then remove the upper bolt and stop, then swing the kickstand so that there is no tension on the spring.
The pieces literally fall off in tour hand at that point.
No coins or extra effort is needed.
Install new spring, rotate stand back to position and reinstall upper stop and bolt.
