Hi
I have fitted V & H short shots and a kuryakyn air cleaner to my 2014 Sportster forty eight......do I need to get it stage tuned of fit some sort of module to adjust the mixture ?
Thanks in advance
The bike runs fine but I read something the other day and I'm flapping a bit now !!
Yes, Need to get it tuner on it so your not running lean and risk engine damage. My buddy that does my dyno tuning is a Harley mechanic and he told me when I did mine that I could put my exhaust on and ride it a little before getting my tuner installed but told me not to install my air cleaner till I was ready to tune it. Some may say differently, but that's my 2 cents.

Checkout the Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel Injection forum. There's a lot of info there, including different types of tuners that people are using.
The answer to your question is a resounding YES. Like swhitney said, any substantial upgrade to exhaust or intake requires tuning - largely adding more gas to the air/fuel ratio. Stock is somewhat lean to start with, so increasing air flow will only make it leaner, which leads to a hot running engine and discolored pipes, even a poorly running engine among other things.
Personally I'm about to purchase a tuner myself and I'm leaning toward the Fuelmoto PowerVision. See the sticky on it.
