Default battery date? D8??

Picked up a low mileage 2008 Ultra last Fall...bike runs fine but got to wondering about the battery- mainly if its the original battery.

Pulled it, pic below. Does the D8 mean the battery is from December 2008?

Have not had it load tested (yet) but want to prevent stator issues, so, if this from 2008 I'd buy a new battery.

Anyone?

Thanks.

On that note....where is the best online place to order from? Been a few years since I've needed a bike battery.

It looks as though the person that installed the battery didn't bother to mark the date of installation in the white circles for the month and year so you have no idea how old the unit actually is. D-8 may be the battery's size.

yea I was wondering why all those little circles weren't marked? Dunno if D8 means "December 2008"?

Bike only had 4900 miles on it when I picked it up last Fall....I am guessing (?) its the original battery. Something 8 years old...though it cranks, being that old is pushing it. But I was hoping to verify the date as I could be wrong about it being original.

There are no other #'s on the battery indicating any kind of date.

If that is the manufacturing date stamp it means April 2008. A-January B-February C-March etc.

Yea, wish the little circles had been marked anyway.

I ordered a new battery this AM....to save a headache this summer far from home.

Those little circles are normally removed, to indicate installation date, they are perforated and easy enough to take out with a finger nail. I have an '07 Buell I bought new and only replaced the battery last year. That has a similar label with G6 on it, also the white circles are undisturbed. Seems a common problem! I changed mine because we were going abroad and I didn't want any headaches either. Just remember to turn your ignition off and take your key out when you stop for a break.......

The white circles are generally used when a dealership installs a battery for a customer to prove warranty time in addition to his/her receipt. D08 is definitely April of 2008, so original battery for your bike. Be happy you got 8 years out of it!
