Default battery life

I'm a new Harley owner, just bought a new leftover Street Glide and just wondering about how long I can expect the battery to last? When parked, it's always hooked up to the battery tender. Thanks for any replys!

Well, I bought my 2008 in Aug of 2007 and just replaced the stock battery last year just because I didn’t want to get stranded. It was still cranking. That said, some would argue that batteries are not as good as they were 10 years ago. If you get 5 years out of a battery, it’s pretty good.

My 09 Ultra battery lasted 5 years. I also keep it on a battery tender when not riding.I replaced it with another HD battery. They should last 5 years.

Over the years I have had a new battery die in as little as 6 months, my record is around 12 years - so somewhere between those two extremes! My 2011 Sporty is still going strong on the original battery and I replaced the original one on my 2007 Buell last year IIRC. So stock batteries have a good service life. All mine live on tenders over winter.

Uh yep! This is definitely a "YMMV" situation ... My 2009 FLHTCU battery was replaced, for peace of mind, last year. Always using a tender helps.

I get a new one every 4 years. If you buy the HD battery you'll spend about $160.00. Divide that by 4 and that's $40.00 a year. That's pretty inexpensive "insurance" against being stranded in someplace like Tentflap, Arizona. (Not that there's anything wrong with Tentflap, AZ...I just wouldn't want to be stranded there.)
