Default Think I have a short

Hello my name is Bruce ,I have a 2011 street glide,not sure if I have a short ,but battery keeps draining and bike wont start, brand new battery ,when I put a meter between the positive side of the battery and it's disconnected cable I am reading 12 volts

Start disconnecting **** until you get no reading.

reading goes away when i remove the main 40 amp fuse

Put the fuse back in and continue with other fuses 1 at a time, this will identify the circuit that is having the problem.

Once you find the circuit you can then start to narrow it down from there, by disconnecting connections in that circuit to locate the specific area in that circuit.

At some point you may need a service manual for the schematic.

Go to the restroom and check,

kidding aside, anything with a small draw could show 12v, but should only be miliamps, radio memory, security.

you need to check amperage draw,

suspect the voltage regulator first, disconnect the wires from under it.

Hi Bruce, The 40 amp is the main power so by pulling that it is like disconnecting a battery cable. You need to pull the small mini fuses one at a time and see when the drain stops. Have you recently done any electrical work? Have you added any accessories? How long does it take to drain the battery?
