starting issues
I started up my 86 FLST after the winter break and all was good. A couple days later tried to start it again and the starter spun but didn't engage. I pulled the solenoid off cleaned the contacts, they were a little burnt. But still didn't engage. What are some test I can do for the solenoid and the relay? All help welcomed. Time to get some wind in my face....

Check your standing battery voltage - what is the voltage of your battery at rest, no charger, after sitting all night, key off.
It was a good starting point checking and cleaning your starter contacts, so no time wasted there, maybe post in the evo classics page on this site, probably get more replies. YD

If the starter spins, but does not crank the engine, suspect the starter drive gear.
