Thanks, Had her for many years. Started as an FXRT and 18 years later I shipped her off to Queensland Australia as an FXR.
Guys, for me the bottom line is the paint on our motorcycles is engineered to resist salt corrosion, UV and even gasoline spilled all over the gas tank. The clearcote is much tougher than you give it credit for. I always work to keep the clearcote polished with no swirlmarks and use a light coat of carnuba wax to bring out that deep shine. I have no interest in retaining old wax and the debris associated with that.
I tried the Dawn dish soap but it will strip the wax off. I use 1 cup of simple green mixed with water in a spray bottle I spray it all over the bike let it soak for 10 minutes and spray it off with a hose then dry the bike with a leaf blower. A little Meguires detailer spray on the paint and chrome and I'm ridding again.
So many good products out the but most of them are expensive the simple green is cheap and works very good in getting the road grime off.
