WOW ... I can easily imagine what would have happened if that had broken on the highway

about all you could do (assuming you didn't immediately bite it) is try to grip onto the front fender with your feet and throttle down, or grab onto the fairing or headlight assembly to control it ... even then, the chances of not dumping it as you came to a stop it would be real slim

hate to say it, but I really doubt if the company that made it will do anything beyond replace it ... even if it's from the dealer -- have you tried going back to where you bought it yet?

I had a tow hook 'straigten out' into a very un-hook shape on my Jeep when I was using it as an anchor for pulling out another vehicle on a trail - this caused my Jeep to launch forward into a tree - luckily I was in it and had the brakes already on, instead of using the winch remote from out of the cab, otherwise it would have gone cruising down a hill into the other Jeep ... the tow hook said '10,000LBS' right on it, and my winch, at maximum pull, only does 9500LBS - and first of all it wasn't at full pull, secondly, I was using TWO tow points on the rear of my Jeep to anchor it, so the tow hook in question was only performing 1/2 the duty

anyways, the company that made the hook wouldn't do anything at all about my bent front bumper or broken fog light, but they did offer to send me a replacement tow hook if I sent the offending one back to them ... no way was I going to trust their stuff again, or give up the physical evidence that I had that they suck

so ... keep that broken one, along with photos of it installed on your bike - and if they offer to replace it, I would run

consider yourself extremely lucky that it happened when it did ... hopefully this won't keep you off of your bike for long, though I can understand why you would be paranoid for a while

Dam* Friken would scare me to death. I had my apes slip down on me on the freeway before. Kinda freaked me but nothing like the risers freaking breaking![sm=jawdrop.gif]

it happened to me one time in London.

luckily as i was slowing down to take a turn.....I turned the 16in apes and they moved WAY more than the wheel did. broken right riser.

SCARY! huge pucker factor right there.....

A lot of the catalogue onesare just cheap junk. I actually buy them from the dealership only now......and only if they say 'made in the USA' on the packet.
