General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I have a HD heated hammock seat, love it. Issue is that when I have the rider backrest installed in the seat, it pushes me forward. When riding without the back rest installed, I sit slightly back further making the riding position better. I want/like to keep the backrest for support on long rides.
Has anyone ever modified the driver backrest to allow them just a little more room in the seat? Modified the back rest rods that go thru the seat that insert into the backrest mount under the seat as I have tried to depict in the sketch above. Has anyone done anything like this with success?
I have the mounting bracket adjusted to move the backrest as far back as possible. Need just a little more. Thanks.
I put mine in my vise , pushed cover as far up as I could and used a pipe wrench as a pry bar and bent both rods back slightly to gain a little more room.
I have the other model that uses the flat bar mount. I cut mine off just above the seat , welded in a 2" flat bar to set me back a couple of inches. Now my adjustment is in the middle. Good for me, but not when you have a passenger. It leaves them with 2 inches less sitting room.

Exactly what I did..... I haven't taken it off since.
