Default Rear brake master cylinder

I have a 2017 BO, I need to remove the rear brake cylinder to get at the forward controls casting(I’m having it shortened) but don’t want to have hassle of having to bleed/reset the abs module etc. Is there a simple way to do this?

Cheers

Steve

Hello old chap! I'm not familiar with your bike, so can only offer a general suggestion. Study this parts list, where you will there is a brake pipe mounting to the rear of your brake pedal. It is possible that by disconnecting that bracket and removing the master cylinder mountings you can get enough wiggle room to remove the pedal, without disturbing the hydraulic fittings. Slacken off all the fasteners you want to disturb before removing any of them.

On my first Harley, many years ago, I disconnected the rear caliper, to get it below the master cylinder and bleed the darned thing, because that was the only reliable way I could find to get good results! So my suggestion has a good precedent.

Hope that helps. When doing jobs like this it is well worth having the FSM by your side, as it provides helpful detailed instructions, drawings/photos, plus all the torque data you will need. A darned sight cheaper than getting a dealer to do the work!

It won't give instructions to do what you want, however should cover removing the controls and servicing the brakes.
