Default Doesn't look like the neck brace will prevent

The way this Leatt neck brace works is that the surrounding edges prevent the helmet, and therefore your head, from going too far in one direction.
Works great on both sides and the front but when I lean back, since the thing is designed as floating and not secured, nothing prevents my head from flying backwards.
The only other style brace is a collar but that's too thin to be preventative.
The collar style is definitely cheaper (so you don't have to lock it up for fear of getting $300 stolen) and more aesthetically pleasing and easy to carry but is there a collar style brace that is "taller" so it actually works?
