Default Michelin Commander II

So I put a Commander II on my Road King and like withing 1,000 miles the tire looks to be separating down the middle of the tire....

Has anyone else had this issue?

Where did you purchase the tire? Never seen one fail like that. And I have run Commander II's for years. Here is what my rear looked like after 23,000 miles.

shoot some photos to michelin north america, tire probably made in mexico.
see what they say and then report failure to the https://www.nhtsa.gov/
this can do several things, help the next person, build a fail rate case and perhaps a recall, and fuel for a court case if need be. they will contact the mfg.

Wow! That's not good news. Was seriously considering buying a set of MC IIs in the Spring. I think I'll take a closer look at the Dunlop American Elites.

The OPs issue sure looks like a seat screw is digging into the tire to me.

Thanks, I will give that a try

And I think DOT code shows it made in TX

I have to assume something is going on since I saw 1 other guy that day with the MC II on his bike doing the same thing and 2 other people saying they too have see this.

I thought that "may" be the case but normally if you have a bolt or screw rubbing into the tire then it will be on the same place of the tire and smooth.... This one is kinds jagged

I got a Dunlop put on at the Harley shop and made the 700 mile ride back and tire is fine...

It is something about MC II

I'm not aware of MC II being made in halves, I'm running them and I don't see any type of seem there - looks like something else is causing this - bring it back to where you bought it & let them tell you what they think...

Google "motorcycle tire static strip" & you'll see that it's normal.

Mine have been good so far. Only a few hundred miles on them. They grip nice and give a good ride. Sorry to see yours fell apart.
