So I have been kicking around some ideas on a bike for short rides around town. Something like a 100 miles would be a good putt. Really like the looks of something with a chopped front in. So start looking and knowing the old back isn't what it use to be I need something with a softail. Is this a rare option for a chopper. I did some google images of softail choppers and hardtail choppers, and the images look the same to me. So I guess my question is are all these images hardtails if there isn't a shock that can be seen, or are they hidden somewhere under the seat. Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

This is not. Somebody threw on a raked set of trees and some longer tubes. A lot of guys were wrecking with raked triple trees back in the 70's and 80's. Now I see they've been coming back. Scary. If you're going to do radical stuff then do it right. Stretch the frame and rake the neck.
This is a standard softail.. The shocks hide under the tranny. All HD softails are the same way except for the 2018 M8 softails. What is weird is that the softail shocks work in extension instead of compression.. The softail swingarm pulls on the shocks instead of compressing them like standard swingarm frame.
