Default I LOVE my Airhark seat pad

So I've got a bike ride planned up to the Smokey Mtns this week leaving Tuesday and the seat on the bike I'm talking is absolute **** for anything over an hour. I remember a buddy of mine saying he bought an Airhawk for his Night Train, so I picked one up at Cycle Gear here in Tampa on Friday. I bought the Cruiser in Medium. Knowing that you're only supposed to fill it with just enough air to keep your bum no more than 1/4" off the seat I barely blew any air into the thing and strapped it down and headed out. (Overfilling them is the main reason people don't like them. I felt no higher in the seat than if it wasn't even there)

From the very first mile I loved it! The weight distribution was perfect across every square inch of my ***. No hot spots, no vibes, it even auto-centers when you shift around, you can feel the air redistribute for a second after you shift. Way better than a $400 seat for sure! I have no idea how I've gone 20 years riding without one.

Well after reading your post, I guess I'll have to take mine off the shelf and give it another try. I have much more air in mine than what you suggest using, so maybe that's the problem I wasn't impressed with the ride.

I have been using one for years, wouldnt ride without it.
You are right about the air volume. If you put to much air in then you are basically sitting on an air cushion. When properly inflated, which isn't much, you should be able to shift to one cheek and one side will bottom out.
The Tampa heat is another reason to have one. It circulates air under your *** so you don't get monkey but in the summer heat.

One item to be aware of is the older model Airhawk seat cushions were made out of neoprene while the latest version of the seat cushions are made out of a cheaper and less durable material called polyurethane.
