Default 4 point docking hardware

Whats up everybody,

I have a question I wanted to run by you.
The Harley 4 point docking system hardware that fits most Harleys, or specifically all Touring bikes (i.e, Road Glides, Street Glides, Road Kings).
Is the setup pretty much the same for the detachable mount kit system or do they vary?
Harley sells it for about $160.00 but other brand names like Kuryakyn sells it for about $80.
My question is, if you buy it from Kuryakyn will it still be able to fit any aftermarket sissy bar, luggage rack, tour pack or does it have to be from Harley only?

They sell these imitation docking system hardware kits on ebay for about $60-$70 bucks but Im wondering whats the difference between a brand name like Harley (besides being OEM) and say like Arlen Ness or Hogworks (those guys sell it for about $130).

Will the hardware still work on all aftermarket sissy bars from a company like Ginz Chopperz, or Detroit Choppers with Harley hardware or in order for an aftermarket sissy bar is to fit on your bike, do you have to buy the hardware from that specific company??

And what about those identical hardware kits they sell on ebay that look just like OEM but for like 1/2 the price?
Will they stay durable and fit or is it garbage?
How do you know, as the consumer, who to trust and not?

Thank you,
Boston John

The answer depends upon what you get, some of the docking hardware is different thicknesses and different standoff lengths causing issues. The HD will definately fit HD stuff, best thing to do is to ask before buying.
