Checking a VIN for service record?

Hello , I have been thinking about getting a 2017 Street Glide Special but after reading about the trans oil migration into the primary problem I am hesitant. If I call Harley and give them the VIN of the bike will Harley be able to tell me if this bike has been in to service for the migration problem from any state or dealer? Thanks for any help.

100% can get the service history for your bike from the dealer who has done the service.

They just remove the "personal information" like name and address.

Technically, HD will have records of any warranty work done at the dealer that they paid for. Don't know if you can access that data tho.

Maybe it depends on the dealer, but I was able to get service record info prior to purchasing my NT. It was the dealer that had done all the service work on the bike so not sure if I could have got the same data from another dealership.

I was able to get all the service records on my 2013 when I purchased it in 2014. My local dealer was able to look up who owned and what service work had been performed.
