I agree with buying a new windshield. I had my windshield cut down at a local plastic fab shop, and just picked it up a couple hours ago. I had a 21" Harley King Size and had it cut down to 15-1/2" so I could see over the top. Wind buffeting at 55-60 mph was so bad I couldn't see clearly. It's way worse than having no shield at all. I wish I had ordered something else and kept the 21". I had to look through it, but I had almost no buffeting.
I cut it down yesterday from 22 to about 16 1/2 ... seems to be perfect, right at my mustache-which I dont have! Jigsaw was perfect. I can see how height is critical though. I have an electric shield on my BMW RT and a half inch up or down can be real noticeable. IF I ever go replacement, itll have the recurve. For now though mission accomplished.
I've cut a few down, my biggest pointer is to keep the saw in constant contact with the shield so if the blade catches it doesn't rattle the hell out of the windshield and crack it. Also, highest tooth count blade you can find is best. And tape, LOTS of tape.
