Tools are the best insurance policy I have... Lost without them... I'll let my kids figure out what to do with them when I'm dead and gone..

You are down sizing. Take inventory, list it and take what you can get. Least hassle is to sell as a lot. Or you can break it into groups for sell. I have bought Snap-On tool boxes, full of mostly Snap-on tools, at estate auctions for less than 10% of new.

Another option is to call estate auction folks as some will buy your stuff at a lump sum.

So vague a description, When someone offers me china ratchets and sockets I say thanks im full on that. 40 year old 3/8" craftsman drill, no thanks I already have a drill. Snap on or craftsman sockets, now my eyebrows are up!
was at my smokey Mountain campground and someone came back from the dump with 20, 3/8" ratchets and as many spark plug sockets. We made a wind chime out of them.

I'm kinda wondering the same thing about a bunch of mine, problem for me is that it's not just wrenches. I was a tool maker for a long time and I know many of the precision tools are probably not going to be used by me anymore. When I see the prices of Starrett tools these days I know that I can never get anything close to what I paid for them over the years but ain't going to give them away. Most of them look like new because I always took care of them. I would rather give them to my nephew but haven't because I would get pissed off if he didn't take care of them like I do. Guess the wife will have to sell them or something when I take my last ride to the clouds.

I thought when I saw the title that maybe mumi was getting rid of the biggest tool of all. That would clear a path, wouldn't it ? I also too funnie. Good luck, but I'm sure some of your buds could put them to good use or maybe the guy that will be getting his hands dirty to do your repairs on the scoot would like a stab at them.

Couldn't you make room for the tools in your new house? You never mentioned how you are storing your tools. Maybe purchase a small rolling tool chest? Harbor Freight has some inexpensive units.

LO, I presently have a dbl decker roller now. And holding onto them were my 1st line of thinking. But I am really calling all the work I used to do, a thing of the past. I am tired.

As my wife is saying I/we are going "light".

Thanks tho "my friend". ("My friend" like a good one. Not Stoppie J Dufesshead poopie nose.)

If you really have no use for them , and your not looking to make any money , I like the idea of giving them to a local high school that teaches shop , or maybe a friend who needs something better than what he has .

Hi MFR my friend. I agree! I am reading all of the REALLY GOOD ideas which I APPRECIATE. And it is exactly what you said above that stands out the most.

You know MFRer, I agree with a lot of what you say in your posts. I am starting to wonder if 1 of us is not needed. LOL!!! Sadly, it may be me.
