Default downshifting question

Say I am in 4th gear and am coming to a stop soon if i pull in the clutch and shift down 3 times to 1st without ever releasing the clutch does that hurt anything? Should It be released and pulled back in before each downshift?

Thanks.

I’m no mechanic, but I think that’s fine. As long as you keep track of what gear you’re in, and don’t lug the engine, or over rev it when you do release the clutch.

If I’m wrong, I’m sure we will hear shortly.

I’ve done it before when I’ve come upon a stop sign or something that I wasn’t expecting. Just don’t go from 4th to first and then all of a sudden let the clutch out with the RPMs still where it would be for 4th gear.

if you keep presence of mind, probably no biggie.
ever ran a rotary shift???
kawasaki used to have it on small displacement machines, quite a surprise when the gear range and road speed does not match. if you ran these machines in the dirt, you quickly learn to keep track.

You can do it, but...don’t shift in to a gear that is too low for the speed. Cause it still over spins the transmission. And don’t ever let the clutch out, if the gear is too low for the speed,,,as you can lock the rear tire &/or mechanically over rev the motor.
