General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
Well, while I do appreciate all the feedback and value your suggestions, I ran across a couple of videos of racers talking about their techniques of getting down the straightaway. Turns out, I can see where I have not applied the proper method which debunks the theory that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. What I haven't been doing and will now practice is getting my RPMs up, clutch to the friction zone and synchronize the two as I power out of a stop. I've just been letting my clutch out, rolling on the throttle without loading up first as I'm waiting on a green light. Now I've got something new to work on. Happy riding, y'all!
Glad it worked out! Now you'll be able to "launch" from every light. Friction plates are cheap and easy to replace. Let us know how it works out once you've had a bit of practice.
The fatcat is a hp pipe. Not a torque pipe. Gotta use the right exhaust for the results you're after. The fatcat isn't the best pipe on both ends. It can't be. No exhaust can be. It wouldn't be any better than his V&H slip ons. Probably worse. In fact, a good set of slip ons will usually do better for low end torque than just about any 2in1. The Khromewerks HP Plus slip ons do very well low end and midrange. So would Rush with the 2" baffle. I've got the 2 1/4" baffles and I have more torque off the line than a similar setup with the fatcat. Like 15ft.lbs. more. But the fat cat does way better hp in the upper rpms. Can't be hp king and torque king. It's just not possible. And the fatcat is thee hp king. Can't for the life of me figure out why people wanting low end torque go with that pipe.
Even the Pro Pipe will do way better low end torque than the fatcat.
That said, I'm not sure you'll get enough of what you're after with just an exhaust change but you sure don't want to go backwards either.
Interesting. I currently have a Screaming Eagle front sprocket and a Baker manual tensioner. If my chain has minimal slack by manual adjustment of the tensioner, do you think there's still an advantage of the 30 tooth compensator?

Yes because 1. It's 30 tooth vs. 34 stock and 2. It's not a compensator, it's a solid sprocket. Instant hookup. It's also over 6lbs. lighter. It comes with a new chain. Use the same tensioner you have.

Howdy,
Does anyone have a recommendation on pipes that will increase my torque and HP especially from full stop? I currently have D&D headers and V&H oval mufflers and a 110 Screaming Eagle motor and a Baker DD7-seven speed transmission on my 2012 FLHTK Ultra Limited.
I'm dyna-tuned with a TTS Tuner. It just seems that others are off the line from a stop and it takes me full throttle to catch up.
Any one have experience with Fullsac headers?
Thanks
Check out RB Racing. I have a set of their LSR 2-1 and haven't found any better. Top quality, great sound, but are a bit pricey... https://www.rbracing-rsr.com/index.htm
Appreciate the suggestion 60Gunner. As I understand their website, all that is necessary is to change out the stock sprocket and replace with the 30T and longer supplied chain and no other mods needed; put back together and done?

Yep. That's it. Took me about an hour and a half start to finish and I ran it without the primary cover a minute or so to see how it tracked.
Besides launch control, getting a cam that is designed for more torque is your best bet. Best investment for performance besides going bigger displacement.
In post #10 you seem to of sorted it out. I was going to add do you know at what rev range your engine produces its max torque?
Many people seem to fit pipes that just make a noise and find they lost bottom end. In that case you would need high rpm to find torque for a quick get away.
