Has anyone installed one and when tightened the screws down on filter element had it cause a crinkle in the filter ?
I Installed one on my Freewheeler and had this happen.
Come accross a video on youtube where a person shows why it happens,
Local dealer claimed it never happens until I brought in the filter and backplate and showed it to them and what caused it to happen ,
Then one of the techs said oh yeah that happens on every one we install but it does not affect how it works .
I agreed it doesn't but sure affects the looks .
I was given a new filter by Dealership manager and a suggestions of using a washer as a spacer to prevent the crinkle.
Just curious how many have had this issue with the Screaming Eagle High Flow Breather.
This will show the breather and problem.
I had the same thing happen .
After they gave me a new filter I used a washer to add spacing to stop the crinkle .but you have to make sure it still seals to backplate.
I just installed the Arlen Ness version of this air cleaner (looks exactly the same) and had no issues. Arlen Ness does provide a plastic washer that goes between the cover and filter element to fill the space. That being said I did have a similar issue with a previous, round Arlen Ness I put on my Twin Cam. I figured I just overtightened it and backed the bolt out a bit. Everything was sealed around the filter element and backplate, and the bolts had Loctite so I never thought about it again.
