Default K&N Aircharger vs. Screamin Eagle heavy breather

Anyone know what the difference between these almost identical units are? Does the screamin eagle unit have K&N air filter as well. I know the K&N unit claims up to 10 extra horses. I was hoping someone would know about these two different units.

Filter element on Heavy Breather is made by K&N. Other than that I cant speak about the similarities/differences between the 2. Cant see what the backing plate/breather system looks like on the website for the aircharger.

The K&N cost more than Harley's. Hard to believe!

HD did a really good job in the design of the heavy breather. K&N filter plus a cleaner setup than the aircharge......The breathers are nicely hidden and all you really see are the 3 chrome Allen bolts holding the SE Breather on. Plus the SE breather has a shrouds covering the clamp that's holds the filter onto the tube.

I must say that HD did somethig right when they designed it. I would recommend it.

Except for the fact that they still route "dirty" air from your breathers into the intake. I would opt for a solution that does not do that. I used the forcewinder intake and came up with my own breather solution...one that does not get routed into your intake.

There are only a few companies making true performance intakes anymore.

DK Custom
NRHS
Hammer

I don't know of any others.

Pushing blow-by back into the air cleaner is counter productive to performance. What comes out of the breathers is primarily exhaust and oil.

It is also hot. Engines perform better with cool dry air and gas...not hot oily air and gas.

Additionally the exhaust gas has a lower oxygen content, displacing oxygen on each combustion stroke. Another performance robber.

Oil will build up carbon deposits on the pistons, leading to pinging/tuning problems down the road.

It's just a bad idea...the only upside is you make the EPA happy.

You can check out our 636v Air Cleaner that we offer at this LINK if you like the forward facing Air Cleaners.

Hey Guys,
Just to chime in, TBR offers an intake system for the Dyna that has a dual feature, screw on end-cap that utilizes the custom K&N filter or screw on v-stack that inducts air straight in to the motor (if you need some extra hourses). Comp-V High-Flow Intake System:
