Default Need help fitting a windshield

‘89 FLST(C?) wide front end with the cowled headlight. Looking for a quick-release windshield. Lots of them for sale, just want to know what to measure so I get the right one the first time. Not interested in riding with it all the time, just cross-country. Thanks for your input!

I think the instructions were, when I went through Freedomshields (https://freedomshields.net/), they tell you to sit on the bike and the top of the shield should be 1-2" below your eye level. This should give you the most wind protection without looking through the shield. You want to avoid looking through the shield due to bug splatters, rain and overspray from other vehicles.

Thanks, that’s helpful! I didn’t know that. But what I’m asking is how do I find a windshield that fits the front end on my bike for long rides? I don’t want to modify the bike, it was my dad’s, just want something to cut the wind for 1500 miles and then take it back off for everyday riding. My bike is an ‘89 FLST with the cowled headlight

You'll need the windshield brackets and attachments if you don't already have them.
H-D lists 86-99 FLSTC 58243-95 21" and 58278-95 18". Not sure what difference is in the C model from yours. Once you have a set of brackets most likely any of that type windshield may fit with the mounting holes matching.
