Upgraded handlebars...now I have issues? Could use some help
I'm new to working on my Harley but not new to mechanic-ing. I upgraded my stock bars to Dominator 14" meat hook bars that are pre-wired for heated grips but I do not have them at this time. Now a red light on the speedo is on all the time and my cruise control won't work. I also can't see my mirrors and can't find any relocate kits.
Check for codes and clear them. Hold the trip set button down as you turn your ignition and DIAG will pop up. Scroll through and clear any codes. Turn off the ignition and then turn it back on.
You said they are pre wired for heated grips that you dont have yet. You didnt plug the wires in yet did you?
It might be looking for something thats not there.
In that case RGSs suggestion is good.. Dump the codes. The things to check are the connectors to handlebar switches and throttle sensor. Left and right turn signals will tell if each handlebar switch is functioning.
Ok thank you. Everything works, throttle is tight and secure, bike runs great...the only things not connected are heated grips since I don't have them yet. I don't know why it would turn on the 'security' red light though

IIRC the later CAN bikes will keep the security line on for X many starts before finailly clearing it.. You might have caused a glitch in the can bus or some other part like throttle sensor. You can go into the diagnostic mode and clear the codes or simply wait for so many starts. Still it's best to examine the codes and clear them. See if they come back.
