Default Project bike start

I’m beginning the search for my 1st project bike and before I spend the next several hours trying to read and understand the Texas Transportation Code I was wondering if…
Anyone has experience in Texas with a project motorcycle title. Does the title cover the motor if I’m using an aftermarket frame?
What about cases from a ’74 with all aftermarket internal parts? The number on the case is all I need ... right?
