Good points. I wear a battery controlled heated vest a lot for non riding and love it but never thought about the gloves not being able to plug into them.
Thanks for the heads up!

I also use the Hot Wired from Cycle Gear.
They have the controllers built in, never had a problem.

Living in the frozen wasteland of Canada, I have been using heated gear since I got Reaper, over 18 years ago. Gerbings are always good, but I found that the Warm & Safe heated jacket liner gets noticeably hotter than the Gerbings counterpart. For gloves, Gerbings are tops. I have a pair of GT5 gloves I plug into my Warm & Safe liner. I use the Warm & Safe wireless dual controller (so I can set different heating levels for the jacket liner and the gloves). With the jacket liner and gloves, good heavy FCL leathers, I can, and do, ride comfortably for hours in below freezing temps.

I highly recommend getting a full jacket liner over a vest, a wireless controller over the wired one, and a dual controller over a single.

Cheers!

I’m using In 12v California heat flex gloves,Jacket and gerbing pants with a firstgear dual control.
In 7v I use California heat flex gloves, I have a Harley vest and a volts vest.Perfect for 45-55 degree days. I enjoy the battery gear because when I get off the bike I stay warm. The 12v gear I’ve ridden into the high 30’s but when you unplug from the bike I move indoors fast.My 7v gear I run at half power so I can get 4 hours of riding and stopping.Perfect for a poker run.
I buy most of my gear at Thewarmingstore.com

I do a lot of high mileage sub-freezing riding. I’ve used gear from three different companies: Warm n’ Safe, California Heat, and Gerbing. The last two have been junk and couldn’t even cut it with occasional use as back-up gear. I will say Gerbing does have a great warranty. I sent them my jacket liner with a malfunctioning glove output (was only used a few times) and they fixed it no questions asked. I just had to pay for shipping to them. There are instances where people have sent 20+ year old garments to Gerbing with no receipts and they've still repaired them for free. Both my California Heat AND Gerbing heat controllers crapped out after only a few uses.

Warm n’ Safe is trusted by many professional long-distance riders (yep, they exist) and I see why. This is the gear that gets used the most for me and has been very robust. Iron Butt rides down in the 20’s are no problem. I have their socks, pants, and shirt. I opted for the shirt instead of the jacket liner because it goes right against the skin rather than acting as a mid-layer. I’ve found heat transfer to be much better with the shirt compared to a jacket liner. Warm n’ Safe pants are the same way: meant to be the base layer right up against the skin. Both garments are stretchy and fit tight which helps avoid overall bulk.

If you look up Ken Phenix on Facebook from “Phenix Flaming Hot Motorcycle Gear”, he can get you a discount on Warm n’ Safe stuff. I try not to swing from the nuts of companies just because I use them, but it really has been great stuff compared to the other brands used.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went with the Hotwire brand mainly because they had my size in stock and the built in controllers. I probably should have waited to see more suggestions but was needing it asap and like all riding gear, you can always buy more right 😬.
Anyway, thanks again and safe riding to everyone. It’s getting close now and I can’t wait!

I never knew about the heated shirt. What do you wear over it, to keep the heat in? I love the idea of less bulk.

Cheers!

The last few cold rides I only wore a Harley Killian jacket over the shirt. It was a test to see how both performed in conjunction. I had extra layers in case but never needed them. Even at 22 degree interstate speeds for a few hours at a time. Aside from testing the rig out in that situation I usually just wear a T shirt over the heated shirt. That along with the Killian jacket is fine.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I just ordered a W&S heated shirt. You should ask them for a commission, haha!!

Cheers!

I think you'll love it. An insulated mid-layer and windproof outer layer (HD Killian jacket has both built in) and your season is instantly extended.
