helmets?
Find a Cycle Gear if you can and try them on. I bought a modular last year for bad weather.
I normally wear a half helmet, and have ordered 3/4 helmets in the same brand and same size, and they didn’t fit.
You need to try them on.
I’ve bought six helmets in three years. Half of them fit, the other half didn’t. And in my size.

Being an older guy too, I needed to see which helmet features would benefit me. Turns out I like the modular helmet where you can lift the entire front face up for a quick stop like a gas stop. Helmets can get too hot without that, then you have to take the helmet off, which is a bit of a pain if you wear glasses like I do. I also wanted the sunshade visor - very important, it turns out. I also wanted a high visibility helmet, since that's the tallest part of your bike ride and is most seen. Safety advocates promote white, but if white were that safe, construction workers would be wearing white instead of hi viz green. So I found a helmet with hi viz green striping.
Cycle Gear store seemed to have the highest selection of helmets in-store to try on. Then they can order the exact color you want. Turns out only the Shoei brand fit my head shape well. They're among the priciest, but you only live once and want to be comfortable riding.
Best of luck.
This right here. You can not properly fit a helmet via the internet. You must try them on to find the brand and shape that fits snug on your head.

In my case, the local shops didn't even have the brand, model, or size that I wanted in stock (although they are available on their website).
You can't try on what they don't have.
And why have the store order it for me to then have to go back in a week or two when it finally arrives to check it out?
With free returns, I can play the "does it fit" game in the comfort of my own home and not burn $6/gallon gas to drive all around town.
Made the mistake of trying on a Shoei. lol
I tried to avoid making that pricey purchase for about a month, but it just fit too dang good. Like it was made for my noggin.
I too have a "Shoei head" I figured it out 20 years ago with my first RF1000, but it took me many helmets to figure it out!
Like OP, I ride with a CF beanie on my Harley, and bring the Shoei along for longer trips in case weather rolls in.
This trip I got back from today was the perfect case: it was 95 degrees when I left for Canada, got the sunburn to prove it, and 3 days later it was in the low 30s. and we went through the first snows in the northern Rockies. It can be a pain to carry 2 helmets, but man it is worth it on long muti-day rides.

This is the one I got, I have about 850 miles in it so far. I can't complain besides for I need a half helmet when it's SUPER hot outside. This one can get a little warm sometimes
But its light and it fits great, not too noisy on the inside.

I don't think anyone here, myself included, is trying to "properly fit a helmet via the internet".

When I was shopping for a modular last year I wanted one only for cold weather, or for traveling in rain, both of which I don’t do a lot of, so I didn’t want to spend “a ton”.
Made the mistake of trying on a Shoei. lol

At risk of repeating myself - Cycle Gear has the largest selection of helmets for TRYING ON of any vendor I went to. They try to carry most brands and types / sizes, then will go to catalogue to get color scheme you want fo the helmet that you tried on in the store.
I’ll not worry about repeating myself…
”You can’t try on what they don’t have.”
I am a Shoei guy. I mostly use a RJ Platinum but I have a Neotec II as well. It’s probably the best helmet I’ve ever owned beside my RJ. If I was looking at a full face I wo Also consider Arai. It’s their specialty.
