I just purchased a 2009 FLHP and Im new to Harleys.
I discovered this hole in this cover in the right side near the footboard. Is this something I need to fix ASAP?

As mentioned it looks like a medallion or emblem was pulled off.
Perhaps part of the police badging.
You can replace the cover or add your own medallion over the area.
If you have simple tools then I would just go on e bay to buy the cover for about $20
