Default idle/ throttle control cables

hi all...i just replaced my stock switch housings to chrome tonight. got it all back together and seams to work fine. i was wondering if there is some way i am supose to adjust my idle/throttle control cables. The throttle springs back fine. What does the idle one do and how should it be? if anything......

I just use the adjusting nut to take the slack out of the throttle cable, then do the same with the idle cable. It's always worked just fine. By the way, be sure the little plastic piece that applies pressure from the "manual cruise control" thumbscrew is properly positioned. If it's gotten a little out of position it will cause the throttle spring return to drag some.

thanks geeze..thats what i did ,(slack). throttle snaps back good so i figure the adjusting shoe must be in the right place also. I was worried that the adjustment effected the amount of throttle i was able to give it and the engine idle speed.
