I always thought that if I lived in warmer weather I would loose some appreciation for riding, or maybe just take it for granted.
Nothing like that first ride out after 4+ months of sitting in the garage.
I literally just said to my wife yesterday that I couldn't believe it was already halfway through February and at the same time it feels like the longest winter in years. I'm sure the fact that the snow/ice storm from 3 weeks ago is still lingering around doesn't help.
We have had an incredible mild winter - Too mild, very dry.
It has been feeling very much like Spring. But, the weather guy said yesterday that a big change is coming later this week. Said could be 2" of snow down in Rapid.
Good day for a ride today.

Just east of you, Minnesota got smacked hard starting with Thanksgiving week. It's been relentless cold, snow and wind for 2-1/2 months. The only reason I still live this far north was for a job in my line of work.
But retiring to blazing heat and suffocating humidity ain't in the cards for this geezer, either. If anything I'd move back to the southern Wisconsin region.
Tried the blazing heat and absolutely hate humidity - So it's born in the Black Hills and die in the Black Hills for this one.
As for weather - The "Weather Or Not" guys just were showing some T-storms heading your way tomorrow, if you happen to be in the lower western corner of MN, and 70°'s throughout that area. May break a record in the lower SD areas like Yankton, Vermillion and Sioux Falls, with a 77° or 78° tomorrow.
Tonight we're looking at upwards of a 1/4" of ice on top of our 150" of snow. It's winter in northern Michigan and a person just needs to be patient. Like MarlinSpike says this is where we've chosen to live and we take the good with the bad. If you're lucky enough to live in the north; you're already lucky enough.

They're 1/2 a day off forecast timing, so I don't ride in 50 degrees either, unlike some of the hardier souls around here I heard out and about the past couple days.
As for me, I'm getting an early reprieve to finish some woodlot improvements I didn't get to when hard winter fell. Meantime, the rejuvenated Heritage waits patiently for real bike weather.
Last Saturday it rained most of the day and washed away all the road salt on the roads. So I got in a nice ride yesterday. It was in the upper 60's without much wind. Supposed to be back to winter later today.
We've had warmer temps the past few days (upper 30 to mid 40's) and some rain but the snow and salt still remains.
And now maybe more Sunday into Monday. Calling for somewhere between a rain snow mix to a blizzard depending on the timing of everything.
I'm done!!!
