i may have had sugar added to my arctic cat prowler here recently causing me an locked up engine....and also is there anyway to check to see if this has been done so i can check my other toys such as my 07 ultra?if added to the gas...what would be the outcome in the failure?what is supposed to happen when sugar is added to the gas?

Sugar WILL NOT damage an engine. Sugar is pure carbon, and as such, will burn, assuming it can even get into the fuel line. Sugar will not dissolve in gasoline either.
Wow..... they even tell what to do instead of sugar.
So what do you do if you really do want to disable someone's car? You could indeed pour a lot of sand or sugar in the gas tank and hope for a filter clog. Water might be a better choice, however. Gasoline floats on top of water. If you pour in several cups of water, the fuel pump will fill the fuel lines with water instead of gasoline and the car would have some major problems. Another option, of course if to drain all of the gasoline out of the tank. Or, if you can get the hood open, you could remove the battery -- that totally disables the electrical system, including the spark plugs and the computer that controls the engine in most modern cars
As a minor league juvenile delinquent, my friends and I didn't really want to cause serious harm to someone but still wanted to inconvience the jerk. On a V8 engine, we just changed around the sparkplug wires to different cylinders. I'm sure they had a hell of a time figuring out why the car wouldn't run, while we did not really cause any real physical damage. Of course, that was wrong.
HDbiker was correct, sugar doesn't dissolve in gas, just plugs things. I evidently pissed someone off and got sugar dumped in my Ram. Just plugged thegas filter and a little bit got to my injectors. Ran like crap. Dropped the tank and flushed it, power cleaned the injectors, good to go. Still think whoever did itis a bastard, cost $400 to get back on the road. I now have a locking gas cap...
Sugar in the oil is a different matter, any possibility they could have gotten it in with your oil?

You know it's sooooo funny you should say that. That's exactly what happened when hubby and I went on our first date. Believe it or not! Parked in the lane behind the movie theater, came out and the car wouldn't start. Hubby was somewhat of anmechanic and figured it out in only a few minutes...but Crikey ...we still laugh about that date (30 plus years ago)! Pffffttt!
That is just too funny!
