Sorry if I may have a dumb question but Harley's are new to me. I just received a 06 883C for my birthday, put about 11 miles on it and now it won't start. It tries to crank over but nothing happens. Last ride it was missing and back firing, help.
It will take about 4 to 6 weeks to get your membership card. One quick check before you take your bike back. On the right handlebar control there is a kill switch. Make sure it is in the "run" position. Some people use it to turn off the bike and forget about it. I never use mine and if it accidently gets pushed I work myself up to a tizzy trying to find out why my bike won't start before I realize what's wrong. Your bike is under warranty so you have no worries. Just call the dealer (if my fix doesn't work) and set up a time to have them check it.
Also, Welcome to the forum, did you post on the New Members Forum?
Thanks alot for the suggestion, I tried that all good there. I'll just have to wait and have them check it out. Just a little frustrated, having to take the bike in again within two weeks. First time to replace cracked speedometer and now this. Plus its in the upper 70s here in Texas and I would like to ride.
Did the problem start on your last ride and after you got fuel? Also don't over choke it or you'll flood the engine. Did you use the choke, just trying to throw out some suggestions here.
If so suspect the fuel has some water in it which the dealer will probably charge you for to fix.
If you ran the 11 miles with the choke on or partially on; check the plugs for fowling. Clean, regap, and replace,.... I know this may sound stupid, but how much gas is in it. Is the gas valve on reserve, or on, or off....check the stubid things first, than right back to dealer. ok let us know what happened. don't be shy everybody makes silly mistakes.....good luck
