Default Oil usage on new Ultra

I'm kinda new to the twin cam, replaced a 92 ultra with an 04 in early July. The evo was a good engine, never had to add oil between 3000 mile oil changes. The twin cam has 4200 miles on it now and I'm adding oil after each short trip. A 200 mile trip at interstate speed (75 mph@ 3050rpm) will dump 1/2 quart? Is this normal? Have I not got the bike broke in yet?
