I will be moving from the DC area to northern Alabama next year, and will be moving my '03 Fat Boy. I tried searching the posts but no luck. I was thinking of renting an enclosed U-Haul to move the bike and some other items that I decide I want with me. I think I saw somewhere that U-Haul frowns on bikes in a trailer... be that as it may, what would be a few suggestions for anchoring the bike? I thought of purchasing a wheel chock and "securing" it to the floor... can always patch that up. any ideas?
I suppose purchasing a trailer would be the ultimate answer. Any ideas?
Sounds like a good idea. I know people that have done this, put a chock in a Uhaul trailer. You can also screw some i-bolts in the floor for tie downs.
You might re-check the U-Haul info. In California they rent trailers specifically for a motorcycle. Some take up to three bikes, likely smaller bikes. Check it out. Another idea is just to buy a used trailer off Craigslist and sell it when you are done.
