i am thinking of switching insurance this spring and was wondering who you guys can reccomend for a better deal. right now i pay $600 a year for 100k/300k of liability, uninsured supplementary, comp and collision on my 06 road king. and i live in NY. probably more coverage than i really need. any thoughts and ideas. thanks
I pay $26 / year State Farm in Missouri: 02 FLHRi Road King
25K/ 50K
Uninsured Motorist 25K 50K
500 Deductable Comp and Collision
No Discount for MSF
Maybe I am underinsured..at least for uninsured motorist?
A year....I don't think so...that sounds like liability only.
People really ought to start using the search function. There are at least two other threads about this same topic going on right now.
To paraphrase a comment from one of them, you need to be real careful about insurance. Asking other people about rates is worthless. Your rates depend on where you live (zip code), how you use your bike (recreation or primary transportation), the bike itself, what you've done to the bike, what coverage you want, your driving record, and even your credit rating. Not only that, but the policy statement doesn't show everything. You need to ask about how they place a value on your bike (in particular in the event of theft). When they say something like "it's based on book/NADA/KBB value", you need to ask them what that value is.
The only thing that somebody elses opinion about an insurance company means is how well they've done in customer service or taking care of their particular claim. It has very little bearing on whether or not it's the right choice for you.
I have Foremost, and Pay about $528 per year. That includes 10,000.00 in MedPay and $3,000 in Addons.
Plus when we put in a claim they were the BEST. Right there, got all the paperwork done, got the check to the dealership for the repairs andwhen there was a dispute over medical coverage they paid it, so I have no complaints with them.
Does AAA write contracts in your area? I still pay $290/ year and an extra $27 for $200 RV/Motorcycle towing up to 4X per year. They're always cheaper than Progressive/Geico/St Farm/Allstate etc.for my coverage.
