After spending 1900.00 on a re-build of motor and trans(iwas figuring a tranny howl)
i still get this hum after the bike has ran a few miles.noise is according to speed and not rpm's.its not loud but annoying for sure.can it be a worn plastic shoe in primary case?
maybe a wheel bearing ?any help in getting this fixed would be boss!
I had a hum problem with a Gold Wing that I owned, and it turned out to be the vent was loose that allowed air past the fairing. It drove me crazy, and I tried unbelievable stunts while riding to try to hear where it came from. What type of bike do you have? Fairing, lowers, air deflectors, brake disk covers? Try looking at other things than the engine. It may be something stupid like a frayed speedo cable that is humming, and I can tell you from experiance that it is very difficult to hear the source of the annoying noise at speed.
thanks for the info. yes this noise is hard to find,I hesitate to tell anyone my bike
is a 81 sportster,I dig this scoot shes all dolled up and ready to roll anywhere.
this humming seems to vibrate the footpegs a little as far as i can tell.I guess im
gonna have to replace the wheel bearing and see if thats it.there goes another 100.00
