I have a 2002 night train. I installed a shock stud lowering kit. When I lowered the tire I noticed that the space between the fender on the drive side and the tire was so small that I could hardley get my finger in between, yet on the opposite side there was at least an inch. I don't know if this is normal or not but I do not believe I would be able to put the harley wide tire kit on. I check the alignment and every thing I check seamed normal. Any Help. THanks!
thanks, i'll answer it myself,
the tire is offset to allow for the wiring under the fender. on 2003 models the offset is built into the wheel itself. this is why when you purchase a wide tire kit from harley, they supply a wheel spacer and a new brake caliper. the dealer that i spoke with said that you can purchase the spacer seperatly for $12.15, and have the original caliper machined down to allow for the wide tire. the spacer is .133 inches, so the caliper should be machined down the same. i have not tried it yet, but i will, and i'll let you know how it went.
