I have a 1986 FLTC that won't start!!! It's not in the engine, because it will push start. I bougt a new starter and a new relay switch. It has power to all places from the switch to the last wire on the starter itself. It won't turn over. All you here is a clicking noise whenyou hit the start button. Now I know the starter works because we put on another bike. Can someone please help me I desperate. I must have spent about 50 hrs traking it and I just don't know, please help!!!
new here.got a question.if you tried starting the bike and you here the clicking sound and it just won't start will it damage the starter or any electricals of the bike...got same problem with my bike and i do charge my battery to a nearby shop..

after recharging i still found it hard to start it 'one-click' know what i mean?

what do you think is wrong?i tested the battery and it's ok

Check your battery cables - I suggest you install new ones with fine copper wire.
You should be able to use a jumper wire off the solenoidtostart the bike - if that does work -then check your wiring - you may have connected a wire to the wrong prong on the relay

[8D]I think zenon9 nailed it! Remember, you're only talking about 12 volts! A loose/poor connection could easily drop a portion or all of this voltage (across the connection). The noise you hear is probably the solonoid being sucked in .... it only requires minimal voltage. The current from the battery is what drives the starter ... with a voltage drop it wouldn't arrive ... nothing pushing it, eh?
i agree with zenon9 and hnesitd1. cables/connections! my 06 RK seemed to be rather sluggish in starting so I changed the battery after 25k miles. Worked fine for a couple of days then the same thing. Only when I was removing the kuryakyn inner primary cover to replace with harley inner primary cover, did I notice the ground wire loose. Tightened it up and no more problems.
