Default Stock seat and fender problem

Bought a used 00 deuce from stealer, when i removed the seat for the first time i saw 2 spots on the fender roughly the size of a quarter, one on the left and one on the right where the seat has worn thru the paint and part of the metal. Has anyone experinced this kind of problem before? Any ideas on what i should do to solve this problem. Should have had the dealer look at it but i had another big issue with them with rust in the fuel tank and they had the bike 2 months. Anyway I now have a sundowner touring seat purchased from the stealer with a different fender but want to make sure this problem doesnt start to develop again.

I have been using a similiar fix myself, got those sticky felt pads that go on furniture feet for sliding on hardwood floors. Just looking for a more pernament solution. Thanks for the idea though.May try that next.

The staples under my seat, holding the vinyl to the seat pan, dug into the fender on my 06 Road Glide.

I bought a 4" wide roll of the 3M product that they use it larger sheets for a stone guard on the front of cars. I use it anywhere that parts can rub on painted surfaces. Its easily removable. I put in on when I use my passenger seat and just take it off when not using it.
