Default HELP-Handlebar Installation

I would like to know if anyone has any helpfull hints when it comes to installing a new set of handlebars. I plan on installing a new set of reduced reach handlebars tomorrow night along with new gripes and chrome buttons for the turn signals, horn ect. I have a 2006 RK standard. I have gotten alot of great info. from this messafe board and I appreciate all of your input. Any advice would be great Thanks Jeff

The handlebar swap is pretty straight forward. Putting the chrome buttons on is just a little tricky/tedious, but really not difficult. Just be careful to not pinch any wires between the handlebars and clamps when reinstalling or you will be disassembling again to repair pinched wires and you will have to replace any fuzes that get blown from the short. (Don't ask how I know this.) Also, be carefull with those little brass ferruls on the throttle and idle cables. They fly off and always disappear. I'd have a couple spares around just in case. They are very cheap, but it's a pain to make a special trip to get one if you drop it.

The actual change out is easy, but getting to the handlebar clamps isn't straight forward without a Service Manual.

Get the manual and a friend to assist.

Remember to torque the clamps back.

good luck!
