i got a friend who's a service writer for one of the local harley shops, and i was asking about the $76 bucks an hour rate, we got to visiting and i said, hey that means that the mechanics gotta be making what, sixteen or eighteen bux an hour, right? he said, man, there ain't anyone in the building making that much money, other than a few of the bosses, etc. i see why hd mechanics are going off on their own. to drive a truck for a us postal contrator was paying $26.90 an hour seven years ago when i decided to retire. it's up right at thirty now. to sit in a new kenworth, air conditioned, home every day, as mail moves by truck at nite usually, ain't a bad gig at all.
